When buying a new jacket, it’s important to consider firstly which times of the year you’ll be wearing it, then how it would look with your other clothes and lastly but not least importantly, how the jacket compliments (or doesn’t!) your figure.
Believe it or not it’s possible to find a jacket that is both practical, by keeping you warm in the colder months of the year, but also that fits your style and makes you look good. Just keep an open mind and peruse the current trends and you’ll find something perfect for you.
Traditional fabrics such as jean, tweed, denim, corduroy and some plaids wear well with just about any type of clothing. Below are some great styles you should consider looking into this season:
Short Trench. Trench coats not only have a minimizing effect but can be incredibly versatile – whether you’re wearing jeans and a t-shirt or a dress, a trench coat can really add to your look. However while it may be tempting to play it safe and stick to a dull green, a brown or grey trench coat, consider some brighter or primary colours and you may be surprised at what you can pull off.
A blazer. In the not-so-chilly months of spring or fall, blazers can be a great way to form a fresh and sophisticated look. Blazers are unusual in that whatever frame or build you possess, they can still be flattering, but particularly in the case of women with straighter figures they can be a great way to give some definition to the midsection. Silk and linen blazers tend to be more versatile but denim blazers can be a great way to add warmth to a dress on a night out.

Fourthly and finally, there are oversized blanket-cut jackets which are not only a great way to keep warm in the colder times of year but can me a great way for curvier girls to tone down curves (that’s if they want to). You can easily wear a blazer or a leather jacket over the top of these to alter you look or simply to just add another layer.
